Maria Tampakaki is a PhD Candidate at the Computational BioMedicine Laboratory, Institute of Computer Science (ICS) - Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas (FORTH) in collaboration with the Biophotonics and Molecular Imaging Lab - Institute of Electronic Structure and Laser (IESL-FORTH) and the Gene Expression Lab, Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (IMBB-FORTH). She received her BSc from the Department of Biology of the University of Crete in 2016 in the direction of Biomolecular Sciences and Biotechnology with a Bachelor Thesis on the “Differential Regulation of the Cognitive Functions in Adolescent and Adult Mice”. She received her MSc in the “Brain and Mind” Sciences at the School of Medicine, University of Crete, Greece in 2019, with a Master Thesis on “Image Guided Brain Cancer Modeling – The Role of PML on Glioblastoma Physiology”. Her main fields of interest are the physiology of the Central Nervous System and the neurogliomal network along with the function of the fundamental neural correlates that generate cognition and behavior. Her work focuses on the in silico investigation of the physiological characteristics of Glioblastoma based on in vitro and ex vivo biological models using novel tools for imaging biological processes.
